Stichting Schoolclash" (The Netherlands) together with partners initiates a project "Share it Outdoor", which is based on gender equality, discrimination & social inclusion thought outdoor education. Thus, with this youth exchange we would like to engage into a dialogue with young people about gender equality & gender roles in their social environment. We would like to challenge our young people with different perceptions of the role of man & woman in modern Europe & in its past We see outdoor education as a extremely powerful tools for development, especially within international communities, it reflects on different values & can create a bridge between different social groups forming better mutual understanding, Most of non-formal education methods will be done in outdoors and we will do few hiking as a big individual and group challenge, instincts of self- preservation disappears therefore it becomes easier to analyze sensitive topics We will do directly relate it with current situation whereas a lot of women and men refugees had to walk over mountains, cross the sea & borders to reach peace in Europe. We will do similar thing in order to step in their shoes for a while. We believe that this correlation will help us to reach even better results and will help to start thinking about the current situation. With the youth exchange we want to encourage young people to find alternatives to existing societal perceptions of the role of woman and men and to think constructively how they themselves can contribute to create a more equal world in which woman enjoy the same freedom as man do. Based on these two main aims that we set ourselves, one can easily relate the project to the founding principles of the EU and the understanding of equality between woman and man which is an essential concept not only within the EU but also in the universal declaration of human rights. However, gender equality is far from being reality in and outside of the EU, and our participants shall as active citizens develop a sense of responsibility and commitment to realise what is stated in documents and international treaties in their real daily interaction with each other. By showing them that they can create their own rules for interaction, the participants will learn that every human made restriction, social norm or cultural value can be changed but it is their task as the future leaders of their communities to shape the way we live together and make their countries a place in which gender equality can be enjoyed by each and every one. The only things they have to do is to challenge their social environment with new ideas how communities can organise their life and to practice in their private relations a gender-sensitive interaction free from predefined gender roles. Active citizenship means to life what we stand for and to take action for what we believe in as responsible citizens of our community. If we are not initiating change nobody will do it for us and our friends and family members.
