Objectives

This project is born out of the desire to support youngsters to develop an inner compass that helps them to navigate the complexity of current times. European society is undergoing far reaching changes and youngsters need to prepare themselves for a future in which previous references related to work, personal relationships, security and identity are no longer valid. The goal of this YE is to equip young adults with the emotional skills that help them to develop resilience and flexibility to thrive in a world that is constantly changing. Our emotions deeply influence our relationship with others and ourselves, our ability to self-regulate, to manage conflicts and to solve problems. They impact our perseverance and our effectiveness at school and work. Emotions are also a powerful source of data about what is important to us, what we care about, who are the people that we feel safe with and how we want to live our lives. The project is build around the concept of "emotional agility", that is: to acknowledge and accept our emotions, even the hard ones, and to be able to name them properly, as essential to take steps that help us to move forwards in life, in alignment with our deepest values. This YE adopts the frame of a summer festival on the topic of Emotional Agility: during 10 days, each of the 7 organizations will bring together a series of workshops that focus on emotional awareness, diversity and literacy. Participants will have different learning opportunities by taking part in workshops offered by peer organizations and also being responsible, together with their team and organization, to offer workshops to the rest of the group. Part of the festival program includes an event open to the entire host town’s community (Ommen), co-organized by the participants themselves with the support of their team leaders. Finally, in order to make this even even more appealing to Dutch youngsters, the festival will host a space for cultural and artistic exchange through an open stage. The objectives of this project are: - to bring together 35 youngsters (between 21-30 years) for a YE - to improve their emotional skills through different workshops and embodied activities - to encourage these participants to express and exchange their cultural background through creative/artistic performances - to support youngsters in creating and organizing a festival including an open event to the host community on the topic of emotional agility - to create and disseminate 7 articles about the Youth Exchange (1 per partner) - to create 7 workshops on emotional agility to be presented in festivals in the home countries of participants - to ensure that evaluation of the learning happens during the project through 35 Youthpasses and 35 questionnaires
