Objectives

‘’Dutch & Romanians explorers through arts and culture. Eyes on Transylvania’’ is a project designed by young people from Malureni and the county of Arges, Romania and from Almelo, Netherlands with main goal of increasing the level of communication between young people from different cultural and ethnical backgrounds and transform the two partner communities in more inclusive, open and united ones, while giving youths tools and knowledge on being active citizens. Main objectives of our project: O1: Young people participating in the project, will enhance their level of intercultural understanding, become tolerant, appreciate diversity and communicate, work and befriend with young people from different cultural contexts than their own; O2: Young people participating in the project will identify& develop their talents and abilities in the field of arts – drawing, photography, digital editing, dance, music - and will be able to use them to send out powerful methods in their communities; O3: All young participants will gain a feel of belonging to their own community, nation and to the wider European culture, by reflecting to all these levels and the cultural charge and diversity that they can benefit from, and learn to value and respect others. Our project adresses the objectives and features of Erasmus+ program. Our project proposal promotes diversity and intercultural dialogue, involves young people, including youths with fewer opportunities or from migrant backgrounds (youths from rural areas of Romania, youths from migrant communities from Almelo) and enhances media literacy and sense of initiative and adresses the needs of migrants while also contributing to building more strong & united communities. By using arts as means of expression, young Dutch and Romanian young people will interact with each other, aquire knowledge on the value of cultural heritage while exploring a XII century medieval town in the heart of Transilvania, Romania which is also an UNESCO site. During the youth exchange in itself, as well as through out all the phases of the project – preparatory and follow – up activities, young people will aquire new skills and competencies and the two partner NGOs will become better equiped for implementing successful projects in the future. For Avedan Welzjin, this project is a reconnection with EU projects from a more active role, after implementing a youth exchange with Imago Mundi, back in 2013, under the Youth in Action program. The goal of Avedan Welzjin is to develop an international work strand and become more actively involved in EU projects, as they can contribute to solving the issues and problems of local youths that the organisation is adressing. For Imago Mundi, the experience that Avedan Welzjin has in providing art classes and courses in the field of youths from disadvantaged areas is very beneficial and its youth workers will use all that they learned in delivering more quality activities to its own youths, taking Studio 15 as a model, adapting what can be imported to its own local context and to its own material and financial capacities, but also work on providing more to the community in this direction as well. We want to create from this project a basis for young people from our both communities, for them to broaden their horizons, gain interest for new cultures, gain deeper intercultural understanding, cultivate their interests, hobbies in the field of arts, learn to learn and work in multicultural teams, share knowledge and create stronger bridges between our organizations and the young people from our regions.
