Objectives

Solidarity is something that is present in our everyday life and our world but we might not think about it or even know what it means. During this exchange we explored solidarity, The focus was on what solidarity means in general and what it means to the individual. We wanted to let young people realize and learn that solidarity can contribute to the general well being of a person. By doing this exchange they could develop their perspective of solidarity in a european environment and therefore also carry out their own perspective of solidarity in a European and more local environment. 'We find that solidarity brings and is about: trust, respect despite other cultural norms and values, helping others even if it can have personal consequences and understanding each other because there are always similarities. We are convinced that being united in solidarity will greatly contribute to the general well being of a person, a society, and their place in society.' Our ultimate goal was to let the youngsters learn about, and implement this in their own daily lives. The following objectives were set in the application: - learning to help each other despite the risks it might bring for yourself - learning to collaborate - building respect for each other in despite of culture / norms / values - Learning that even if you are different, you have similarities - Develop a mutual understanding of each other’s lifestyles - Build lasting relationships with fellow participants - Develop an understanding about solidarity and how to use it in your everyday personal life - Develop an basic knowledge on movie making. Erasmus + Opportunities have been something of which we have been fortunate to be able to engage in over last number of years and this Opportunity brings us to the Netherlands to participate in a project between Fyrc and Go Foundation, and to facilitate the participation of the second part of the project with a visit from our Partners in the Netherlands in October. This was a marvellous opportunity for 10 young people aged 14-17 years from Finglas area to participate in a project in which is informal educational focused and promoted positive personal and social development, with Solidarity at its core.
