"Europe, the land of stories" is a youth exchange project that aims to get to know the similarities and differences of cultures in Europe, and reborn the forgotten stories and make them more valuable among the modern society. Stories are saving our own history and culture, passing it along to the next generations. Influenced by the internet, media and cinematography, less and less stories are told by word-of-mouth. With this project we are aiming to bring our stories back and preserve them using film-making as a modern tool that is easily acceptable for young people. "Europe, the land of stories" will take place in Orvelte, The Netherlands, in the period of 20/08/2019 - 28/08/2019. Youngsters from The Netherlands, Lithuania, Macedonia, Spain and Romania will spend a week together trying to get to know other cultures through storytelling. This project will involve young people with no experience of international mobility, and also participants who already have tried the benefits of Erasmus+. The youth exchange will be run through sharing stories, discussions, workshops, simulation exercises and role plays (acting). The project has several objectives: - Raising awareness about the importance of preserving stories as a core of our cultures; - Break stereotypes and prejudice; - Promote mutual understanding between young people who belong to different cultural backgrounds; - Decrease the cultural fears which are one of the most important problems nowadays about migration processes in Europe; - Discover film-making as a powerful tool for promoting cultural diversity and its benefits; - Give a chance to young people that usually are not able to take part in abroad experiences and mobilities (PFO); - Encourage young people to actively participate in international projects and use the opportunities of Erasmus + program. This youth exchange provides a room for young people to increase knowledge about European cultures and traditions. With this project we aim to make a huge impact in our communities on raising awareness about the roots of our cultures and how similarities of our cultures can connect us.
