Objectives

We wanted the leaders, teachers and advisors at the schools who participated in the project to; - be more reflected towards their own and others' teaching practice - gain insight into other schools assessment practices - discover a variety of forms of teacher-student collaboration - get new perspectives on pedagogical leadership - examine how teachers and school management can gain results together - achieve up to date skills within their disciplines - be more motivated staff with more knowledge that can spread good practice in their own school and in the county as a whole - achieving an interest in international cooperation We expected that this would lead to a general increased awareness and openness about teaching and other relevant topics at each school. We also believed it could have a positive effect towards internationalisation and that it might lead to increased international activity at all levels in the schools included in the project. It will benefit the pupils to have motivated, dedicated, skilled, and updated teachers. This is the best starting point for pupils to learn more, and have a high quality of the teaching.

Background

The background for this project is the strategy of school development in the county of Buskerud. The strategy was called " Strategi for kunnskapsskolen i Buskerud" with the overall objective to maximize learning and minimize dropouts. The objectives in this project are well rooted in the strategy. The regional plan for education in the county also has a specific following objective " Strengthen every schools and staffs competence within internationalisation, innovation and entrepreneurship, and one of the measures was to increase participation in Erasmus +. The region had developed a programme for building the schools competence in international collaboration called " Langsiktig plan for internasjonalisering" and one of the action points was to establish a consortium with all the upper secondary schools in the region and build competence and widen network for each school through the activity jobshadowing and structured courses. This project was the first Erasmus + KA1 Consortium with all schools included. The region Buskerud had until the start of this project low participation in Erasmus +. The schools have had several exchanges and collaborations with schools in Europe, but just a few schools had a granted Erasmus +. Another aim of this project was for every included school to increase their competence, network and skills in a direct and active way. The project included school leaders, teachers and school advisors in 13 of 13 upper secondary schools in Buskerud. There are two mail overall objectives for this consortium; 1. Further develop the plan for internationalisation focusing on strengthening the competences of leaders, teachers and advisors in all the Upper secondary schools in the county. 2. Strengthen the work with strategical and political objectives for school development in the county of Buskerud. The original plan involved sending 82 leaders, teachers and advisors spesialiced in different subjects from 13 of 13 upper secondary schools in Buskerud on staff mobility activities in various European countries. The activities did mainly consist of job shadowing at a partner school and participation in structured courses. The outburst of the covid-19 pandemic and the long lasting school strike altered these ambitions.
