At an organizational level, we wanted to get a clear strategy for our European development plan. We wanted to improve our routines for mobility travels and implement the same routines at the different departments and programs of study. We wanted to include more teachers and staff in mobility projects, and to get more cooperation and interaction between VET teachers and teachers of common core subjects. We wanted the teachers/employees already experienced in travelling abroad with students to share their knowledge with inexperienced staff. We wanted the students to learn something new within their field of study of course, but more importantly we wanted the students to become more motivated, feel the teaching is more relevant and practical, and make the students more resilient, independent, confident, solution-oriented, cooperative, more aware of being a European citizen, more open and inclusive. Furthermore, we wanted both students and staff to highten their competence within communication, language, and culture.
Steinkjer upper secondary school applied for this project because we wanted to focus more on internationalisation, increase our international activities, but also improve the quality of the work within internationalisation at the school. We already had some experience in international activities, but we wanted to broaden our international network, start new partnerships, and be able to offer mobility travels to all the programs of study at the school. We looked upon this project as a good opportunity to begin using internationalisation as a tool and method for enhancement of competence both for staff and for students.
