We want to give our students the opportunity to work and train in a country other than Norway, which will give them new skills in their vocation in addition to invaluable intercultural skills. Our design and textile pupils were going to focus on solving challenges connected to the vocation on a critical and creative way and the cooking and waiting students were goding to focus on using relevant terms, principles, materials and equipment in their work. All students were going to focus on cooperating and communicating with colleagues and customers in their placement. In addition it is important to focus on the objective of the improved language skills of the students - they had to communicate in English during the entire stay.
We have cooperated with Bridgwater and Taunton college in Taunton for a long time in the vocational field. We feel it is extremely important to provide our vocational learners with new places to increase their competence in the vocational subjects and it is important for them to experience a working field outside Norway, which will give them intercultural competence as well as vocational competence. Bridgwater and Taunton college gives 4 of our year 12 design and textile and cooking and waiting pupils the opportunity for a work placement in a new culture with a different focus than in Norway.
