Objectives

Our objective is, through the exchange of ideas, collaboration, and observation, to increase the knowledge and skills of both educators and students. A long-term objective is to establish relations that will facilitate cooperation and student exchanges in some of the vocational subjects through partnership agreements.

Background

We wanted to implement a project that included teachers, other staff and pupils in vocational subjects. The main goals of were twofold: Primarily we saw this as an opportunity to increase interest in and application for the vocational education programs at our school as well as improving the completion rate of the students. In addition, the project would increase the school's international profile, and be an opportunity to learn from others. We strongly believed this would improve both interest and motivation among staff and students alike. By going abroad, both students and teachers would gain different experiences than the ones available at home, and hopefully this will inspire them to expand their perspectives even more. It is always useful for educators to be the learner, and in this context the learning activity will have a different dimension than what can be expected locally. For the students, the plan was vocational training through school and work placement training, as there is a lot of learning in new experiences and new perspectives. Lastly, the experiences the students gain by participating in such a program will be beneficial in their future occupation.
