Background

The overriding aim of Folkeuniversitetet's Innovation and Development in Distance Learning Environments (FIDDLE) project, was to meet our ongoing need to develop quality distance learning opportunities, courses, and tools for our Adult Learner (AL) participants. The project is a response to our organization’s focus on maintaining and developing high level quality assurance in our language courses through attention to best practice in language teaching methodologies, e-learning and teaching competency on digital platforms for distance learning. We feel there are great benefits in supporting high quality professional development events and training arrangements focused on e-learning, teaching methodologies, teacher training and quality assurance measures in Adult Learner (AL) institutions. The subsequent aim being that our mobility participants return with enhanced competency and broader networks to help offer new training opportunities for our large body of language teaching staff. Building knowledge and acquiring inspiration in terms of quality assurance, digital technology for distance learning (DL) and teaching methodologies suited to DL and language learning is the central focus of the FIDDLE project.
