Objectives

Professional pride and increased status of vocational education, competence enhancement for formal and non-formal competence, as well as helping to prevent dropout in vocational education have been important drivers in our project. We also aim throught the project to increase the cultural understanding, language skills and the ability to adapt to a new working life during the mobility stay. Our goal was to send 70 apprentice on a mobility stay abroad and 30 staff trainings. We also planned for offering shorter stays for apprentices with special needs, in close co-operation with a Labour marked co-operative. The companies and the training offices are our best ambassadeurs to promote the mobility experience for the apprentices. For that reason we alway open the possibility for the supervisors to join us when we visit the apprentices abroad.

Background

The International Service Office (ISK) applied for Erasmus funds to achieve one of the overarching goals in the hinterland of increased international engagement. During the project period, ISK has worked to further develop the mobility offer in Inland Norway so that more people in the target group will know and make use of the opportunity for international mobility. The main objective has been to give apprentices in Inland Norway the opportunity to work and live in another European country during a period of their apprenticeship. To achieve this goal, we have initiated closer cooperation with training offices and apprentice managers in large municipalities, as well as established a network for coordinators of international cooperation at the upper secondary schools in the county. The aim of mobility in vocational education is also to increase the attractiveness so that young people choose to apply for vocational education and thus meet the needs of the business sector for skilled labour.
