Objectives

The key objectives and goals for the project were to facilitate for further development and sharing of professional knowledge, competences and skills related to vocational education and training. Through participation, VET pupils, apprentices and staff would get valuable knowledge and skills as well as insight and experiences related to their profession. The mobilities would also focus on attitudes, values and intercultural competence and awareness to achieve our goal of making the participants global citizens. In addition, the project would be used to highlight the value of vocational education and training and contribute to make VET a more attractive educational option. We also wanted to use mobility activities to work interdisciplinary and across sectors to better link VET to regional and local planning processes and to economic development. The project was part of long-term work with professional development and sustainable local development. Implementation was also aimed at further strengthening international cooperation and activities as a factor in providing quality education and training and thus become an integral part of everyday school life.

Background

Note: As a result of a regional reform in Norway during this project period, Hordaland County has now merged with Sogn and Fjordane County and have become Vestland County. Vestland aims to be a region where skills and competences are systematically developed and are used in the interaction between those offering education and training, the labour market, and other relevant stakeholders. Erasmus+ VET Mobility is used by Vestland County administration as a tool to meet goals of improved learning outcomes for our learners, and to address challenges of linking regional needs, education, and labour market. We applied for this project to be able to offer our VET pupils and apprentices, as well as teachers and other staff connected to VET education and training the opportunity to develop their professional knowledge, skills and competences through work experiences, job shadowing and cooperation with European partners. Sharing best practice and knowledge through interregional and international cooperation is essential in meeting future challenges as well as continue to contribute to strengthen the quality of vocational education and training.
