We wanted to give the students a sense of mastery, motivation and knowledge. In addition we hoped they would more self confident using English as a useful language to handle everyday life. It was also our intention to let the students experience a different, but in a way similar culture, work-experience from another country and be more open minded to different people, schools, kindergartens and elderly homes. For the teachers we wanted them to learn about the Irish schools system and curriculum in school and kindergartens. We wanted to look upon how over cooperating schools worked to predict and prevent school dropouts
We applied for this project to learn the similarities and differences - for the students: MÅ FLYTTES - between working as a healthcare worker or child and youth care worker - learn about the curriculum at school - attend school and learn that their English skills are good enough to experience learning and mastery - personal growth taking responsibility into housekeeping, provide meals, economy, get to work or school by public transportation by themselves
