Objectives

Our project goals were: 1. To increase the number of teachers using a foreign language and linguistic improvement for teachers of foreign languages and vocational subjects. Most of the school staff are people who do not know foreign languages at a communicative level or have problems with speaking in a foreign language fluently. 2. To promote the use of a wide range of digital tools for teaching general education and vocational subjects. Many teachers were educated at a time when computers and the Internet were just getting started. In turn, students belong to the digital generation and expect teachers to be proficient in using technology and mobile devices. 3. To use elements of bilingual education by integrating vocational subjects with English and German to enrich lessons and prepare students for apprenticeships and entering the labor market. 4. To develop a program of interdisciplinary extracurricular activities to familiarize students with the literature, culture, sport, languages and religion of other countries and their contribution to European cultural heritage. 5. To develop cooperation with other European schools via the Internet and in direct contacts, in particular via eTwinning first.

Background

Our school is the largest institution of this type in the area, training over a thousand students, which sets the bar high, and as a result of internal evaluation in the areas of: "supporting the development of students taking into account their individual situation", "analysis of the process of shaping attitudes", "ongoing evaluation of curricula", "use of multimedia aid" areas for improvement were diagnosed . Being also a school whose staff is inevitably "aging", we wanted to keep up with the times in terms of methodology and digital technology, in order to prepare students for external exams as effectively as possible and to raise the knowledge of foreign languages among our staff, so that as many teachers as possible could directly engage in an increasing number of international projects and activities. Our secondary, but equally important motivation was to establish contacts with teachers from other European schools to learn from each other and implement future projects together. Coming from the tourist mining town of Wieliczka, under the protection of UNESCO, we also wanted to proudly promote our region abroad. Moreover, our aim was to bring European culture to our students who may not be able to travel themselves.
