In addition to organizing student mobility abroad, a particular priority for ZSO has long been the establishment of international cooperation and professional contacts in order to acquire knowledge and enrich our working methods. We wanted our school to have a chance to improve its own teaching organization and curricula as well as to introduce innovative methods in the future. In order to be successful in these areas, we have created this project, which is the first, but most important step towards achieving the above mentioned goals. Increasing staff competence in the use of a foreign language. This will not only broaden their knowledge, but is also a key prerequisite for achieving the above-mentioned long-term goals. In the future the school's offer will benefit, the quality of educational services will improve and the organisation of work will improve. We hope that the prestige and image of ZSO in the local environment will increase significantly. Participation in the project favors the acquisition by the participants not only key professional competencies, but also personal ones. The project brings significant benefits: in addition English is associated with an increase in self-esteem and motivation to work.
One of the main goals of the General Secondary School in Godzianow is to improve the English language skills of the teachers so that in the future they will be able to establish and maintain extensive and effective contacts with schools and institutions in Europe. We are a small rural institution with 27 teachers and currently 180 students. As a result, the proportion of English-speaking staff was very low, making it impossible to organise any mobility, international projects or pupil exchanges. Language (English) and intercultural training were therefore among the most important areas we wanted to implement in order to improve the competences and complement the missing skills of our staff. These deficiencies were the main reason why ZSO has not yet established fruitful international cooperation, which the whole school community had been thinking about for a long time. The course at the Maltalinqua language school was to allow our school to realize its long-standing desire to establish contacts with educational centers in Europe. Thanks to this project and its results, the attractiveness and competitiveness of our school was also supposed to increase.
