The project aimed to improve the quality of the school's work and thus more effectively implement its mission: "The school aims to develop independent, empathetic, open, courageous, educated, reflective, responsible and active people who learn throughout their lives. Our students will be participated in creating the modern world by taking up challenges and acting for a good community and our planet, and the intended use of knowledge and skills. To achieve this goal, the school creates a friendly atmosphere of mutual respect, enthusiasm for learning and cooperation by building a community of students, teachers and parents who interact in the education process". Our goal is to learn about methods that allow for the student's holistic development as an individual who functions independently in a changing world in the future. We especially wanted to learn about the methods of teaching 21st-century skills with particular emphasis on critical thinking, innovation, and the ability to cooperate and care for one's well-being.

Background

At school the issues that needed improvement we re recognized: - the use of interdisciplinary teaching methods. The improvement allows students to synthesize knowledge, see the links between different disciplines, and gain a deeper understanding of topics considered from different perspectives. - the area of using learning skills in information technologies (WEB 2.0 tools), tablets, and smartphones. The goal was to activate students and develop the ability to reflect due to the need to evaluate sources. -Area related to non-formal learning methods and the ability to construct open tasks related to the real world, reflecting the practical work performed by adults at work and in life. - an area related to the multicultural aspect, the improvement of which will translate into students' openness to the world and work for the good of the community. - an area related to the achievement of well-being, the improvement of which will translate into a meaningful life for participants. - area related to the lack or insufficient command of the English language. The need for teachers is openness to novelties and innovations in education introduced in the European Union which is why we care about the project of the European dimension.
