The most important need was improving the linguistic qualifications of our teaching staff because the school was at the stage of preparations for establishing the first bilingual class, which required teachers of non-language subjects to have at least a B2 level of English proficiency (of course, we were aware of the fact that this is a process spread over several years). An important aspect was also the qualitative support of English teachers preparing to work with bilingual groups (it was necessary to create an original curriculum with interdisciplinary elements and particular emphasis on methods supporting motivation to work and the ability to learn quickly and effectively). Bilingual education requires an appropriate foundation at an earlier stage of learning, which is why we wanted to involve teachers of early childhood education in our activities, which should awaken and nurture children's natural curiosity about the world through participation in interesting projects and experiments. The result of these goals was also the development of entrepreneurship of both students and teaching staff by strengthening its positive image by the implementation of the idea of lifelong learning.
Primary School No. 1 in Mosina is a modern facility where we try to meet our students' needs, interests and prospects. We put a lot of emphasis on the development of the key competencies and preparing young people to live in the rapidly changing world. One of the pillars of the development of our institution is strengthening and supporting our staff profile through taking part in courses and trainings presenting new methods and tools of work, the improvement of career counselling, especially according to our oldest students when they choose their individual educational and training paths as well as counteracting teachers’ burnout. It is equally important for us to improve language competencies (both teachers and students). We wanted to establish bilingual classes with an increased number of English lessons combined with learning History and Geography with additional English elements. Soon we are going to provide also Social Studies taught in English. We also want to develop early childhood education which has a huge impact on the educational experience of young people.
