The main goal of the project was to improve the linguistic and methodological qualifications of the teachers, and thus to bring the quality of our school's work to a higher level. We wanted methodology and language courses to be an element of increasing teachers' motivation to self-improvement and active participation in the development of the school. The aim of our school is to introduce elements of English language in all educational school subjects. Therefore, we wanted our key teachers to obtain the necessary language competences in good training centres. We wanted our school to be perceived in the community as a thriving, developing centre providing high-quality education for young people. It was also very important for us to expand international contacts in the context of future cooperation between schools.
Since we are a school with bilingual classes, our main goal is to implement elements of English language to as many school subjects as possible. We also wanted our teachers to be able to conduct classes using a variety of attractive and effective methods of teaching English and science subjects which are taught bilingually in our school. Moreover, our school is involved in international projects and we are also visited by teachers from various countries. Until now, the level of some teachers' English proficiency did not allow them to be included in the cooperation. It was necessary for them to attend language courses to be able to communicate in English. We wanted to expand our European cooperation. What is more, we realized that there are too few school events promoting learning foreign languages and the culture of English-speaking countries. Improvement is possible on condition that there are well-qualified teachers with linguistic competences who are able to work with source materials and who have personal experience in traveling abroad.
