Objectives

The fruitful cooperation enabled artistic and educational results to be achieved through students' participation in individual, chamber and orchestral lessons. The students became acquainted with the teaching methods, technical and performance means in playing an instrument, and musical literature of the visited country. They had the opportunity to make friends with students of European conservatories, confront their artistic level and play music together during rehearsals and concerts. The implementation of the project has directly contributed to raising the quality of school work on many levels - organisational, artistic, linguistic and substantive (methodological). Pupils participating in mobilities acquired communication skills, developed social relations, became acquainted with the way European institutions function and with the working methods of teachers, and also established contact with their peers and learned their ways of thinking. An important element of mobility is the opportunity for artistic presentation in solo, chamber and orchestral works. Collaboration in chamber and orchestral activities brings tangible results in the pursuit of intended artistic outcomes through hours of rehearsal and in-depth discussion of interpretive assumptions.

Background

The Music Without Borders 3 project was a continuation of cooperation with conservatories in Finland (Helsinki, Joensuu, Lahti), Toledo and Funchal, Madeira, which lasted for over a decade. Our school was very satisfied with the cooperation and hence its continuation for many years. An important element in applying for the project were the teaching and content-related needs of the students of ZPSM nr 4 such as: 1) to undergo foreign professional practice, which will significantly supplement the curricula and framework teaching plans in force in Polish music schools 2) realization of foreign practice, an indispensable element of the CV of those students who plan to study at universities outside Poland 3) increasing the chances of getting a job in both Polish and foreign artistic institutions after the next stage of education 4) increasing the level of students' skills in playing musical instruments 5) increasing of the quality level of ensemble performance - chamber and orchestral 6) increasing students' linguistic competence in English 7) demonstration of organisational and communication skills and demonstration of independence and responsibility for one's own career.
