Objectives

The goal of the implemented actions was to support the development of social competences of museum employees and co-workers, most of all: entrepreneurship, mathematical competencies (these two competencies are important for the employees of cultural institutions because of the financial aspect of creating an educational offer - managing the institution's budget), creativity, multicultural competencies understood as improving the cooperation skills in the international teams and improving knowledge about workshop activities addressed to adults. We were also keen to gain knowledge and good practices from observing work in institutions that have already developed their offer and methodology for implementing craft workshops. The project participants developed recommendations (in the form of a synthesis) for the development of craft workshops in the Museum of the King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów. In the future, the document will be a support for us n developing a new educational offer. The recommendations have been submitted to the museum's management and will be included in the museum's masterplan (a document setting out a set of strategic priorities, relevant to the development of the institution, in the long term).

Background

The Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów (hereinafter MPW) applied for the implementation of the project because of the willingness to enable their employees and co-workers who look to the education of adults, knowledge and experience exchange in the field of organising craft workshops and classes with the museologists from foreign institutions that have such an offer and methodology well developed. The Museum is constantly trying to develop and improve the level of the educational offer and also support the competence/skills and social development of the employees and co-workers which is vital and closely related to effective institution running. A few years ago the Museum gained new areas (a former royal farm, historically belonging to Wilanów estate) and plans to develop a cultural and educational offer, in particular workshops aimed at recreating old crafts. Developing the existing offer of the museum in the field of craft workshops is important for the museum adult audience, who will be the main recipient of the offer. We are also aware of the need to develop the museum's workshop offer, which is the most effective form of learning for adult recipients.
