The aim of the project was to: - to look at informal adult education from a broader, European perspective, - to raise the level of adult education forms to other European museums and to compare the solutions applied to date, - reducing barriers to access to the offer of the Museum of Warsaw by excluded people and those at risk of exclusion (including language barriers), - strengthening educational participatory activities (among others, increasing the competence of staff in this area) in relation to socially excluded or at risk of exclusion, - to establish a wide network of external (international) relations, - to encourage staff to make international contacts, to learn from experience, to become acquainted with good practice, to undertake mobility abroad, to become familiar with other cultures and to develop their language skills.
The Erasmus+ programme is in line with the City of Warsaw's strategy for the development of culture, which the museum, as a local government institution, fulfils in pursuit of its mission. The Museum of Warsaw applied for the project in order to bring adult education forms into line with the high level maintained by municipal museums in Europe and to establish a broad network of international relations allowing for the exchange of experience and good practice. The Museum of Warsaw is keen to develop the intercultural and inclusive competences of its team, which the budget of a public cultural institution does not always allow, as many good practices and project examples have been implemented abroad. The Erasmus+ programme is therefore an opportunity for the Museum to organise foreign internships for its employees, allowing them to learn and exchange experiences. At the same time, such personal contacts for staff were to contribute to wider international cooperation and partnerships.
