Objectives

Through the implementation of the project, SWD wanted to achieve three main goals: 1. Provide the possibility of acquiring knowledge and raising competences by SWD employees in connection with the performed work, in particular in the context of working with blind and visually impaired people and groups with other special needs, through the exchange of experiences, direct contact with European specialists and personal observation of activities in the place of mobility. 2. Strengthen the international character of the institution, establish and deepen relations with institutions from abroad. An extensive network of contacts would increase the possibilities of acquiring external funds, but also provide the opportunity for consultation and cooperation during international activities of the SWD. 3. Offer employees and associates of SWD attractive activities and activities that in the long run result in team integration, but also provide the possibility of personal development (soft skills, defined individually for each participant), increasing satisfaction and satisfaction with the tasks performed in connection with mobilities.

Background

The "Invisible Heritage" project was submitted as a response to the need to develop the competences of the team members of the Villa Decius Association. At the time of the application, we knew that the availability of a cultural offer for people with special needs is the next step in creating an open and inclusive educational and cultural organization. The SWD team recognized the group of blind and visually impaired people as particularly important in terms of participation and access to culture and activities related to tangible heritage. Thanks to the project, the organization had the opportunity to learn about the practices of foreign institutions, subject to different standards and operating with different awareness of openness to the blind. SWD wanted to provide its employees with the opportunity to build competences, personal development and acquiring knowledge. An additional motivation was the expected integration of the team around the gained experience and the exchange of perspectives.
