With this youth exchange, we want to create an opportunity for young people on the verge of social exclusion and marginalized youth to open the world of non-formal education for themselves and take a step forward to develop their own competencies and become a meaningful part of civil society. The peculiarity of our project is that we will not ignore the problems of modern society, such as military conflicts, migrant issues, social exclusion, gender equality, marginalization and other issues of discussion, but we will conduct an open dialogue (Dialogue on equal footing), trying to find out how this information is broadcast in different ways in different countries and how we can consciously perceive it. The idea of this Youth exchange was created during the YE “Employability guide for graduates of high school” in Ukraine in July 2018, where the participants from different countries recognised the difficulties of the young people in Europe to reach the job market and understanding, what extra competences and skills would be better to put in a good position regarding the formal diploma. After the end of the project, we decided that we want to help our friends, colleagues, and peers and to show them that global changes in society begin with the first step, even if we are young and consider ourself not experienced enough in this area. At the same time, an understanding has come to us that there are young people who find it much more difficult to decide on any steps, these are young people who are at risk of social exclusion. For various reasons (social, economic, political, religious) they become outcasts in society and are located as it were between social groups. For such marginalized youth it is very easy to take a step into the abyss and become unemployed, homeless people, bandits. We want to hear their voice, we want to include them in a dialogue, where everyone will be on an equal footing and show that there is another way out and that you can make a chance on the path to qualitative changes in life. According to Eurostat, in 2016, 118.0 million people, or 23.5 % of the EU population, were at risk of poverty or social exclusion. This means roughly one in four people in the EU experienced at least one of the following three forms of poverty: monetary poverty, severe material deprivation, or are living in a household with very low work intensity. Since 2012, the number of people at risk of poverty or social exclusion has fallen each year. However, the number is still higher than in 2008, which is the reference year for the Europe 2020 target. The aim of our youth exchange is to give the opportunity for youth from different backgrounds to learn and experience different methods of non-formal education in order to empower them to be more active in civil society and encourage developing various skills and aptitudes needed in their personal and professional development. The objectives of the youth exchange are: - to help young people from different background to develop soft skills and other skills that are basic and necessary for communication; - to promote solidarity, empathy and tolerance and to foster intercultural understanding between people of different origins; - to equip youngsters with knowledge and tools about creative thinking, public speaking and teamwork through non-formal methods of education; - to empower young people to actively participate in youth projects, to volunteer and to pursue development of a self; - to raise youngsters’ European awareness, promote European values and get youngsters more sensitive towards the actual global challenges; - to create space for sharing knowledge and exchanging ideas with the atmosphere of common understanding between peers representing different cultures and backgrounds. - to promote the Youthpass as a tool for the recognition of non-formal competences in Erasmus+ projects. We believe that the aims and objectives of this project is in direct correlation with the objectives of Erasmus+ and KA1. EU 2020 Strategy focuses on promoting smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, and has made the reduction of at least 20 million people at risk of poverty and social exclusion, one of its 5 key priorities. The main topic of the project are based on the principles of the EUROPE 2020 STRATEGY, as well as one of the objectives of Erasmus + Program – enhancing the international dimension of social inclusion to support young people in order to give them opportunity to develop new attitudes and equipping them with the soft skills.
