Objectives

"Empower The Willpower" was created to teach educators how to help their students develop the skills to manage and regulate their behavior more effectively, and to use methods for teaching and reinforcing key self-discipline skills. The project discovers the process of teaching and supporting self-discipline both with individual students and with groups. It addresses the most immediate and pressing needs of teachers and youth workers, and also provides a framework for developing long range goals and lessons. The project aims to introduce the concept of self-discipline and to show how it can be viewed as a curriculum content area. All the participating organizations work with youth, therefore after identifying the above mentioned issues and needs, our goal became to equip the participants (that consist of teachers and youth workers who work with young people on a daily basis) with the tools and non-formal methods of teaching their students self-discipline. Self-discipline, once developed, will help those students in their school and personal goals, and positively impact the daily work of the educators. The point of this project is also to make the participants aware that self-discipline is learnable, and can be acquired through practising the skill.
