Objectives

The "Taste the Culture" project is intended to aid youth who are starting to take their first steps and independent adults. When they are old enough to start living on their own they are terrified of making their own decisions and showing personal initiative because most of their life has been spent in a institution with very little personal freedoms and chances to make their own decisions. Above all, they are unprepared to start building their own households in accordance to their personal values. Basic tasks such as shopping and cooking can be paralysing because not only have they never done this before but because there is no one by their side that would help with these seemingly simple tasks. It is our hope that we can use this project as an opportunity to teach youth basic cooking skills that would make their transition into everyday life easier. Taste the culture allows young people to: develop competences connected with starting independent lives on their own; become aware of socially relevant topics; discover new cultures and cuisines mainly through peer-learning; strengthen values like independence, autonomy and self-reliance. We have identify the following key objectives: 1. Increasing self-esteem and initiative of particiapnts by giving them the opportunity to practice skills needed when starting their independent adult lives; 2. Supporting youth in gaining a deeper cultural awareness and especially national cuisine. 3. Improving key competences such as: initiative, working in a diverse environment, independence and communicating with a team;
 4. Strengthening language skills which will allow project participants to become active members of the EU community and seek other international project opportunities.
