Objectives

The „Garden of Values” project has been found from inspirations and needs of youth which decided to start working on it’s own development. Young people have taken the first steps in this direction expressing awared need necessity of change the reactive attitude of life adopted so far. Youth leaders and teachers of the youth gladly supported the students in the work on the ideas of the project, its assumptions, objectives, course. The goals of the project implementation include supporting young people in development, in the first action initiated by students. The students expressed the need and willingness to deepen knowledge about the plant world, in particular about herbs, and to acquire additional skills in designing herb gardens. Herbs and the creation of the garden have become the basis for taking up deeper topics covering issues of European values. The "herbal-garden" meeting is a starting point for establishing a Polish-Czech-Lithuanian dialogue of young people, eliminating stereotypes, building mutual understanding and openness and learning about cultural heritage, discussions about shared values of citizens of individual nations of countries and Europe. Common goals, common pursuit to achieve them, i.e. design, performance and solemn opening of a herbal "garden of values", and above all common staying and acting creates a platform that unites, binds, changes the perception of others and attitude to the world. The program of project activities is based on the assumptions of non-formal education, intercultural education, mutual learning, workshops and outdoor activities. The main objectives of the project are preparation in international project teams of "value gardens" symbolizing European values and reducing prejudices and stereotypes, learning tolerance and openness, in particular between Polish, Lithuanian and Czech nations. Participation in the project will allow participants to deepen knowledge about herbs, medicinal plants, learn about the natural wealth of Podlasie. The Polish partner will develop professional skills in the field of garden design. Participants will increase communication fluency of English, improve intercultural competence. Participation in the exchange will allow participants to acquire practical skills, including communication, organizational, group work, self-management in time. An important aspect of the project is also broadening perspectives on personal development, informal learning and internal enrichment of participants. In the case of young people who are experiencing economic and social difficulties, often have low self-esteem, do not focus on their resources, and see gaps it is particularly important to ensure the opportunity to experience success, achieve goals of project activities and gain inspiration from peers who take an active attitude and have a broad perspective life. The aim of the project for partner organizations is to deepen experience in the field of project implementation and increase the international importance of the institution.
