The priorities of the AEEN are aimed at improving the quality of learning, with models that are more appropriate to the curricula and learning goals. Better prepared teachers are needed, as the targets set and the student profile require a major change in terms of practices and instruments to make the work more profitable. New technologies are important tools in the process, but require new skills to develop them. We bet on teacher training to meet the expressed needs of the school, but in a broad perspective and contact with new models and experiences that help to relativize and globalize. It is a bet on innovation and change, but not on an artificial innovation of teachers who use new technologies with objectives of old pedagogies, who see change as an imposed process that is not appropriate and early forgotten. The selected courses encompass a set of contents, which correspond to the diagnosed needs, pointing to areas of improvement in the field of pedagogical practices, with the appropriation of new teaching paradigms and the implementation of new methods and techniques.
The Emídio Navarro School Grouping (AEEN) is composed of 7 schools and 2,996 students, from the various teaching cycles. The average age of the teaching staff is high. Continuous training takes place regularly each school year and focuses mainly on the use of ICT. The Educational Project highlights training through the improvement of knowledge, know-how and the construction of autonomous, responsible and participatory citizens. The aim is to improve the quality of teaching/learning, to promote success, valuing merit and excellence, and reducing the number of students who drop out of school. The diversified educational offer, the partnerships with training and business entities, the regular participation in national and European projects, the good technological equipment and the internal evaluation in the awareness of the work done are strong points. In the evaluation of the priority needs for training, the following were diagnosed: educational innovation, pedagogical relationship and educational use of technologies, always having INNOVATION and INTERNATIONALIZATION as a background, a conclusion also drawn from the process of teacher evaluation, in terms of planning and implementation.
