Objectives

The main purpose of this project was to assure the offer of training activities/courses in international (in)formal contexts to its participants that would meet the increasingly globalised reality of the 21th century classrooms and whose acquired knowledge and learnings could be widely disseminated in the school community. After the needs and challenges of the school were identified, the activities described in the project proposal took the following specific objectives into consideration: - the appropriation and experimentation of innovative teaching approaches and methods by the teachers so as to promote meaningful learning to students; - the adoption of teaching strategies according to PBL (Project Based Learning); - the development of linguistic and intercultural competences, through the engagement of participants in experiences of communication and interaction on European soil, to make them confident enough to foster new European partnerships and take part or take the initiative to create new Erasmus+ projects. The school also intended to maintain and expand its network of partnerships with various European institutions to share good practices, knowledge and strategies to promote educational success.

Background

The Secondary School of Caldas das Taipas (ESCT) applied for this project as it aimed to continue its internationalization strategy as an educational institution focused on the professional and human development of its collaborators with a sense of European integration. It also emerged to meet the school's needs, after the priority areas to be improved were identified and compared to the goals of the Educational Project and as soon as the weaknesses in terms of training were put forward by the teachers - new teaching methodologies; innovative practices; collaborative work; project work; linguistic and intercultural competences and, finally, motivation. Thus, the aim was to carry out a plan for the improvement of the teaching quality at ESCT through an investment in the training of its teaching and non-teaching staff in diversified European contexts so as to contribute to a higher motivation and commitment of the students that would lead to success of them all – not only in terms of academic results, but also as far as their personal and social education is concerned.
