Considering the priority goals and needs defined in the ESSPC European Development Plan (measured at the disciplinary group and other pedagogical structures meetings), we intended to implement teaching and non-teaching staff training in the following areas: • inclusive education: how to manage differences in school, classrooms and the curriculum in general; how to stop early school leaving, including students with Special Educational Needs; • innovative educational techniques (group dynamics, cooperative games, teambuilding, theatre, storytelling and video-making, role-playing, and interactive workshops, among other techniques) to develop student’s personal and social skills more interactively and dynamically, while seeking to promote citizenship, as well as involving parents and guardians in the learning process, providing the inclusion of all students; • 21st-century essential skills development – creativity, communication, collaboration, digital skills, critical thinking, and personal and social responsibility - applicable to all school subjects and activities; • new methodologies ( formal and non-formal education) to increase learning motivation; • local and European heritage, to promote European and global citizenship.
The project "CLICK - Citizenship, Literacy, and Inclusion Challenging Knowledge!" reflects the Secondary School of São Pedro da Cova's ambition to assume itself as a successful educational institution with an effective response to the weaknesses of its target audience. Located in a socially and economically disadvantaged territory, which does not value school and education as privileged means of personal, professional, and social promotion, our school has been under debate with the progressive reduction of students, early school leaving and, recently, with the growing reception of students with special educational needs. These problems have led the school to the need to train its human resources (teaching and non-teaching staff) in areas considered a priority: full and responsible citizenship; linguistic, digital and environmental literacy; and inclusion. The CLICK Project implementation allowed us to acquire knowledge and develop skills in the areas of Human Resources Management; Education for Sustainable Development; Creative Strategies for Language Teachers; and Diversity Management in the School Context, encouraging the establishment of contacts for future Eramus+ exchanges and international partnerships.
