Objectives

With this project, the AEV aimed at increasing the quality of the service provided, in the perspective of continuous improvement, within the scope of Adult Education. This way, the AEV intended to: - improve the staff competences to respond to the learners' individual needs, in order to fight against the drop-out of adult learners who want to complete the compulsory schooling or the secondary education; - discover professional practices that contribute to reducing the digital and cultural gap of learners, enabling social inclusion and adaptation to a new attitude in the world of work - to perfect and consolidate linguistic and cultural knowledge acquired in a situation of exchange and cooperative production, with a view to improving the skills of foreign language professionals teaching modular and complementary training; - to enrich adult education and training through cross-looks: to acquire a European culture, a culture of European civilisation, to know what unites us and what differentiates us and discover the richness that this represents; - to develop the international dimension of AEV in adult education and training.

Background

The Agrupamento de Escolas de Valongo (AEV) , over time, has been stimulating a culture of lifelong learning, diversifying the staff in-service training and, always embracing new challenges regarding adult education. The AEV also intends to continue its internationalisation and to respond to the needs felt by staff and adult learners, especially regarding the following issues: a. the dropout in adult education, an obstacle to the qualification of adults; b. digital illiteracy, especially among less young learners c. a demand for short-length courses (e.g. modular training) in the field of foreign languages and ICT. The objective of this project was to give the possibility to AEV's staff to participate in training activities that would allow a permanent updating and acquisition/mobilisation of competencies/knowledge of the professionals involved in Adult Education, in order to articulate that requalification with the new training demands, to improve the performance of the institution and to respond to the needs of adult learners who return to school.
