Project summary

The ERASMUS + Project "Life with values - Building-Character and European citizenship" is about the students' perspectives and their attitude towards values. We want more inclusive, tolerant and free European societies. In this way, it is our belief that in educating for personal and social values we are promoting the welfare and acceptance of the European entity. We are delighted to be able to count on "newcomers" and also experienced partners who, with different backgrounds, hope to promote and contribute with their knowledge to our common project. In addition, we involve our co-operating partners in the community who are involved in community work and are dedicated to the dissemination and promotion of personal and social rights in our countries. The mastery of our students about the impact of their actions on others and how they reflect in their community can become a problem in all participating countries and this project aims to demystify, give knowledge and promote balance. The intention is also to open up new choices and options for personal and social development in school curricula at all levels of education. Throughout the project, students and teachers will use all modern media, such as websites, chat rooms, video, etc. We will participate in learning activities developed around the central theme of the project in all participating countries. There will be elaborated several products like product kits, posters, didactic materials related to the different values worked. In this experiment, different web tools will be used in order to diversify methodologies in the classroom and make these and other learning more attractive and effective. There will therefore be a lasting impact on the students involved, on teachers and other staff, on school communities and regional partners who define educational processes, through the development of a network that will enable them to engage and reflect. The schools involved will have the opportunity to perfect their curricula and the programs they carry out through future-oriented research, with the aim of promoting personal and social formation.

Objectives

We believed that values were one of the greatest challenges in Europe nowadays. It was our goal to prepare activities designed to develop the concept of some values, using web tools, in order: - to create a common European culture which develops the awareness of human rights based on the values; - to have a good practice exchange through a common network with schools in Europe; - to provide positive interaction by seeing the good practices on the spot; - to understand and show empathy, love and respect each other; - to have a positive approach towards human rights for a peaceful future; - to be more tolerant to the people not just locally, but internationally, realizing that their opinion cannot be formed from comments, but from conviviality and knowledge; - to provide the students be aware of each person in the world has equal rights regardless of their nations, wealth, power or weakness; - to consider the relation between values and personal behavior affecting the achievement of sustainable future; - to reduce the negative impact of the internet, television and the media; - to promote English as a subject of study but also a tool to communicate with other people around the world.- to gain competence of using Web tools.

Background

Values can determine how they behave and interact with other individuals and with the environment. These moral values can also be considered social and constitute a set of established rules for a healthy coexistence within a society. It was our aim to prepare activities designed to developing some values, recovering the importance that the others should have for us. In a society that is so plural, diverse and rich from a cultural, religious and social point of view, it is fundamental that the new generations recognise in others similarities and differences and know how to accept and live together in this plurality. This is the reason that led us to create this project. With different partners from different parts of Europe, it was possible to live together and promote activities that led the students to reflect on their way of putting up with things, but also to see how others react to the same situations. Through digital tools, which the students master and by which they feel attracted and available to use, we have been giving body to the theme, leading the students to the reflection that we consider was missing, since we are facing increasingly radical groups and that can condition the opinion of each one.
