Objectives

We've proposed through asCES project to offer support to the participating teaching staff, in using innovative methodological approaches in educational activities with students with ASD. We've wanted the teachers to get in contact and train in new approaches in specific educational intervention in ASD, but to strengthen their ability to adapt the curricular tools, as well, in order to implement the new techniques in their educational practice. In a simplistic and generalized manner, we would say that through the activities of this project, we wanted to see what exists and what is being done in other education systems at the European level, regarding the inclusive and specific educational intervention and evaluation of children with ASD , to integrate, through mentoring activities, this information into an innovative vision at our school, so that we can then disseminate these practices for the TSA community. We wanted the direct and indirect beneficiaries: students and members, teachers from the school, the local and national community, to know and come into contact with an innovative vision regarding autism, based on the developmental point of view, with respect for the child, for his diversity and for his strenghts.

Background

Education is what changes destinies. From the desire to respect this, the school needs change as well, with continuous adaptation, finding and implementing the best educational approaches, for every special child. CSEI no. 1 Oradea outlined its educational activity with responsibility and vision, because each child is a unique case, a value, a challenge, having a disability but a potential, too. The school wants maximum recovery aiming for social integration. Following the analysis of the needs of our institution, listening to the voices of the beneficiaries (parents and children) but also those of the community, we've noticed that in the field of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) there is need for intervention, innovation and diversity. Observing what exists, we needed to access relevant information, innovative for us but internationally established, to perfect teaching staff, to identify possible international partners and then to disseminate the information at the country level. Through the asCES project, we wanted to be able to offer the beneficiaries and their parents, specialized educational services for the particular needs in ASD, but also to take a step towards diversity in terms of educational and therapeutic approaches.
