This project had 4 main objectives, meaning 4 main areas of improvement: 1. Using methods like flipped classroom to improve the performance, efficiency and autonomy of students, by saving time during classes for explanations, debates between students, practical tutorials, etc. 2. Avoiding conflicts between students by enforcing communication, respect and tolerance. As the school was in the middle of conflict with most of the local authorities, we aimed to promote cooperation and communication by organizing non-formal educational clubs like drama, public speaking, debate. 3. Developing the ability to identify, selct and instruct human resources to complete tasks. Having in mind that a series of managers changed over the last 4 years, we needed cohesion among teachers, we needed teachers to be able to assess their own strengths, to choose accordingly the teams they are part of and to perform well as a team. 4. Creating CLIL learning materials, needed to teach optional subjects to students in bilingual classes (Geography of Great Britain, History of Great Britain) and using English as means of communication.
We applied in 2019, when our school was going through a period of instability regarding the repeated changes in management, during 2018 and 2022. Regardless, we have implemented European projects for many years, as we are aware of the benefits of lifelong learning and of the impact on the competences we transfer to our students. Secondly, we needed this project in order to acquire the competences needed to develop our school, to improve the students’results and to regain the respect of the local community. Colegiul Stefan Odobleja has the difficult position of competing with the best regarded high schools in the region, although this is both academic and VET high school, as well as night school. Thus, the school does not have the results of a purely academic school, but is among the best VET schools. Surely, our final aim is to improve the students’ results at the graduation exam, which, unfortunately, is the main point in the assessment of school performance. For this, we need well-prepared teachers, adapted to current requirements and able to work efficiently in teams.
