Objectives

The project aimed on the one hand at reducing the school dropout rate among LTAM students by increasing the attractiveness of the teaching - learning - evaluation process and motivating students to complete the compulsory courses, using digitalization and actively participatory methods; and, on the other hand, increasing the degree of insertion on the labor market of LTAM graduates, by developing skills that help them adapt more easily to the requirements of the current European labor market. Through the participation of 11 teachers in the training courses offered by this project and through the transfer of the competences acquired by them to the other 57 teachers from LTAM, the priority needs identified in the PDI of our school were covered, namely the acquisition of innovative methods for a digital age, the development and use of digital learning technologies and tools, to improve the learning outcomes and, implicitly, to increase the motivation of the students to get involved in the activities, giving them the chance to an equal education, without discrimination.

Background

Between 2013-2018, "Alexe Marin" Technological High School (LTAM) faced an increase in the school dropout rate (10%), among the identified causes being: - Failure to adapt the teaching strategies to the particularities of the students; - Teaching by expired and cumbersome methods, unattractive for students; - Poor knowledge of the tools for evaluating the professional and technical competences; - Students' disinterest in learning and lack of motivation to complete certain specializations; - The students' low level of knowledge at the beginning of the high school cycle (over 60% of the high school students were distributed computerized with average grades below 5 at the national evaluation, and the students in the vocational education over 80% with averages between 2 and 5). We applied for this project in order to improve the capacity of the institution to trigger changes in the field of education, to create a state of well-being in school, to meet the needs of students. The main need of our institution was to increase the school frequency and to develop professional and technical skills and competences, the basic and transversal ones, through the use of good practices and modern methods by the teaching staff and managers.
