Objectives

First of all, we wanted our institution to step into European dimensions and our staff to gain European experiences so that they could develop their competences needed for improving the quality of education in our school. We had in focus the teachers”s digital competences as that area seemed to have the greatest lack according to the survey this project was build and founded on. Meanwhile, the period we went through (COVID19) proved us that we were right as our teachers never needed more their digital competences than during online teaching.

Background

We applied for this project mainly because we had in mind our clear longer-term goals, the European Development Plan of the Bethlen Gabor Secondary School. Our institution is a small one situated in a small community in Romania, Lăzarea. As being quite isolated and having a bigger town in its neighbourhood which keeps being a great attraction to the parents to take their kids to learn in the schools over there, our school faced a huge need of change: small steps of launching it and ourselves towards internationalisation, international cooperation and ensuring our kids a modern learning environment and well-prepared teachers with innovative teaching methods. This project helped us to make the first steps towards our long term goals by developing our strategy for internationalisation.
