The main objective of this project is to improve the educational and therapeutic services offered to long-hospitalized students, included in the hospital school through the professional development of hospital teachers. Mainly, we aimed that through job-shadowing, the participating teachers to develop the following competencies 1) the use of creative educational-therapeutic strategies and intervention methods adapted to very diverse needs, caused by the diseases and according to the age of the hospitalized students; 2) the use of tools for recording and evaluating the progress of hospitalized students as well as the optimal communication of these results to the schools of origin; 3) implementation of ICT and mobile technology, visual and creative methods in working with hospitalized students and 4) collaboration in the multidisciplinary team of educational-therapeutic and recovery intervention and involvement of parents and other factors to achieve educational, professional and social inclusion for hospitalized children.
The project resulted from a need for professional development of hospital teachers. Prior to this grant, teachers were insufficiently specialized in the use of psychoeducational intervention strategies specific in working with children or adolescents with cancer, leukemia, chronic diseases, mental illness, neuromotor diseases etc. as well as in the realization of the individualized educational plan (IEP) necessary in the work with the students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) hospitalized. The current Erasmus+ project, whos main activity was the job-shadowing, took place in countries with a tradition in the field, which can offer special training, through direct contact with hospital education models.
