The choice of the topic is justified by the typical sad facts about health statistic throughout the whole Europe . It is a well-known fact that eating habits in Europe are disappointing world-wide. A recent report of the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that the whole Europe will have to cope with the obesity epidemic that will reach alarming levels until the year 2030. The situation will affect more European countries not excepting the countries participating in this project: Greece, Romania, Armenia and Hungary. In Greece, for example, the proportion of men and women who will suffer from obesity will double, from 20% in 2010 to around 40% in 2030. According to the obesity map published on March 8, 2008 on https://bigthink.com/strange-maps/two-maps-and-one-graph-comparing-obesity-in-america-and-europe the participating countries are not staying in good positions at all, showing the necessity to find solutions not just at European or national level but at local levels as well. Hungary stays in top 5 in Europe by having 26.40% obese people, Greece with 24.90% and Romania with 22.50. According to the WHO the situation in Armenia (Armenia, the country which connect Europe with Asia) is not better at all 55.5% of the adult population are overweight and 24.0% are obese. Till 2030 this will increase with 14 %. Why the things stay like this? For example: the population of Hungary consumes a lot of fatty foods, their cholesterol intake is leading among the countries in Europe, unfortunately they are also in the podium of salt and sugar consumption. Romania, Greece, Armenia are very close to reach the level of Hungary in this way. Indicators are not encouraging in their cases either. Being obese is not just on esthetical problem, how regular people thinks, obesity is a dieses. More further obesity and its co-morbidities (primarily high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes) are one of the most serious (if not the most serious) challenges to the health of the population in the world, but also in the above mentioned countries. Epidemiological studies recently conducted in Romania (the Predatorr study and the ORO study) confirm that Romania unfortunately have the same worrying trends regarding the incidence and prevalence of obesity observed in other European countries (Romanian Association for the Obesity Study and the Romanian Federation of Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases). The aim of the project is to draw young people's attention to the distressing eating habits, to confront them, and to contribute to changing their eating habits by communicating appropriate information using non-formal methods. In summary, together with our partners, we would like to realize a youth exchange where, through the wonderful world of gastronomy, we aware youth the importance of the necessary changes. At the same time, gastronomy also allows to focus on the awareness of interculturalism (being able to accept new cultures) socially important issues, solidarity and, last but not least, the availability and exploration of the world s interethnic, religious-based dialog trough eating habits. As we presented above the needs of the change is absolutely necessary. For us, being organizations who work in the field of youth, environment and we promote the healthy life is even more necessary to make steps so we can reduce directly (at least) in our natural, local areas the rate of obesity. The proposal what stays in your hands is respecting and correspond to the objectives of the youth exchanges. The proposals involves young people with fewer opportunities and promotes diversity, intercultural and inter-religious dialogue as well, therefore respects the annual priorities established by the programme at national level. Bringing together 4 nations and even more ethnical groups we try to discover involving the local communities as well the reasons what are staying behind our bad eating habits: are they economically based, religious based, ethnical, weather based, etc?? The interesting fact is that at institutional and private levels also everybody accept and knows that till 2030 we can speak about the epidemic of obesity, but even being aware of this fact the results of the fight again this disease are not positive. Although the different extra taxes applied on high sugar contain products are not helping to reduce the over consumption. Our solution to all this is the direct approach of the young, by speaking, by showing, by teaching, by listening, in one word by making them directly aware of the effects of our day by day fastening life trough non-formal educational methods, involving trainers, specialist in the topic and local stakeholders.
