Objectives

The goal was for them to do a two-week APL at a preschool, school, LSS activity or a nursing home. This would teach students how the activities worked in England and Germany and then with a focus on health, pedagogy and support measures for people in need of special support. The goal was also for them to increase their knowledge linked to the EU's key competences that apply to all citizens. For example, "communication in a foreign language", "Learning to learn" and "Social and civic competence". Our partners have the English and German equivalents for these programs and they provide students with APL places in the activities that are relevant. We then received students from our partners in a similar way.

Background

We made the application because we want the students to develop the ability to increase knowledge of the profession in other countries and make comparisons between professional culture between countries. We also wanted to give students the opportunity to develop as individuals through internationalization and take part in a different social structure. Our project means that 30 students from the Health and Care Program and the Children and Leisure Program at Ystad Gymnasium have carried out a student exchange with Grantham Collage, England and Campus Berlin, Germany. The students are in their final year of a vocational program at the upper secondary school, which places great demands on the work areas of care, nursing, nursing, pedagogy and meeting people in need of special support. They would have the opportunity to acquire knowledge about what it is like to learn in another country, especially regarding similarities and differences. What is good and what is less good and what can they bring with them in their future professional life. They would be offered to gain experience of people's different conditions for learning and caring in England and Germany with a focus on health and support measures for people in need of special support. Gaining an insight into the structure of society and culture in England and Germany, as well as making ethical reflections based on these, would all together invite personal development and the ability to reflect from a global perspective.
