Students' personal development and developed professional skills. We wanted the students themselves to realize that the world is bigger than Klippan and the surrounding area and that they are in fact citizens of Europe and not just of Sweden. We wanted them to increase their self-confidence and understand that they can do so much more than they think. We wanted them to understand that there is an opportunity to work in another country in Europe and that it could actually be part of their future. We wanted them to have the tools to dare and be able to dream and visualize a different future than the one they may have seen as the only possible one, the one that most people choose. To dare to choose the path that most people do not take without losing their own personality and identity. The staff would also be given tools to develop as an educator and practice using English in new situations. They would have the opportunity to develop within their professional area but also as a role model for the students. If the teacher has been abroad, it is easier to inspire the students to take the chance.
We wanted to give our students the opportunity to travel and experience Europe and meet new cultural expressions in a new environment, to grow as a person and become aware of the inherent strength they have as individuals. That they can do and dare more than they think. We wanted them to gain insight into problem solving in an unknown situation and that they would have the opportunity to learn about their own self-image and how it is reflected in people they meet. We wanted them to have the opportunity to work in a workplace where the language was not their native language and where they had to try to be outside their own comfort zone and what it is actually like to work in their profession in another country. We also wanted to give staff the opportunity to develop in their professional role because we see that there is a need. We wanted to focus on our vocational teachers because we believe that it is a quality-enhancing aspect to be able to follow a vocational colleague in another country.
