All of this above had an overarching aim to be able to offer an effective, high-quality professional education within the nursing program even for students who have not progressed that far in their second language development. Through better organization around workplace training, we want to be able to provide as successful an internship period for nursing students as possible. The project aimed broadly at this group of adult students getting quick access to work, which is prioritized locally in Sundbyberg, nationally in Sweden, and in Europe. The objectives of the project were developmental at organizational, local, national, and international levels. Above all the project aimed at increasing the teachers' competence, knowledge, and innovative way of working in our VET program in order to be able to find systematic solutions for organizing workplace training where the students' skills, language, and intercultural understanding are to be fully developed.
" Vocational Teachers’ Competence in Work- Based Learning and Language-Content Integrated Approach in the Municipality of Sundbyberg " was to achieve competence development of seven vocational teachers internationally. The need was about finding new forms of language development, working methods, and intercultural understanding in our VET program in nursing. The need was also to gain experience and knowledge in organizing workplace training. We sought the opportunity to study and experience how VET schools in the EU with a much longer history and experience operate and bring home innovative thinking in pedagogy, and organization of VET.
