We wanted to develop the professional skills of both staff and students, by seeing how other schools and companies in Europe work and benefit from each other's skills. We also have as a constant goal to increase the proportion of our students who have either practiced or studied abroad during their studies and above all give greater opportunity for students with special needs and those who have never been outside Sweden for various reasons. The students who wish to carry out a mobility must be given the chance, also the students that need support to participate. By making it possible to also have accompanying staff, we wanted to increase the possibility of including students with special needs. This, in turn, contributes to the goal of increasing the proportion of students who complete a mobility. We also wanted to improve the professional English skills of students and staff - both at home and through exchanges. To get the chance to use English in the profession when discussing with foreign colleagues is a useful experience. We wanted to become a more attractive school through the exchange opportunities that Erasmus+ gives us.
Our school is located in northern Sweden and many of our students have little or no experience of traveling in Europe and meeting other cultures. We see, giving our students the chance to practice and visit schools in another country in Europe, as an important opportunity that raises the quality of their education. It gives them better professional knowledge and understanding of how animal husbandry and agriculture works in other countries, and in addition they improve their English language skills, gain increased self-confidence and make contacts and friends for the future. We wanted to increase the opportunity for all students to be able to complete a mobility, and also include students who are unable to complete a mobility on their own. We also saw it as valuable to involve as many of our teachers as possible in our exchange projects by giving some teachers the opportunity every year to visit one of our partner schools, accompany them in the classrooms, discuss teaching methods and APL development, establish contacts, visit APL places and hopefully being able to use English in your own teaching at home.
