Objectives

Our goals for the project were and are: That the activities at Svalöf upper secondary vocational school are featured by an international/global perspective That the education at our school is linked to the increased internationalisation of modern working life and that our school offers the qualified skills that are required for preparing the students for a free and international labour market To give our students insight and understanding of the Swedish culture heritage and other cultures but also for the Swedish multicultural society where variations of culture, religion and ways of life are present That the students feel safe in their own identity and oppose xenophobia and ethnocentrism and know the law of discrimination and our seven grounds against discrimination That the project contributes to a sustainable world, where we have to cooperate to solve energy and resource problems; smart and sustainable development That our internationalisation is shared by all students and staff members at our school That we aim at well-educated staff That the cooperation across the borders is a permanent part of the education and training at our school That we are a part of a competitive Europe and not only a school in little Svalöv

Background

The professional world is international and though sending vocational students in their trainee periods plus recent graduates on placement periods abroad we wanted to give the students the opportunity to develop their creativity, their quality awareness and their entrepreneurship at the same time as we acknowledged the European dimension together with global and sustainable perspectives. Our students should feel that the whole of Europe and the world outside are their future labour markets. We wanted to improve the employability of our students and also their intercultural competence while gaining proficiency in their vocational sectors. We wanted the experiences of the students and their teachers being carried home to our school but also outside school. The project wanted to improve the knowledge about EU and what EU can offer young people in Svalöv. We wanted to develop the competence, capacity and the sense for integration among our staff. The teachers were expected to improve the quality of their teaching at home and through job shadowing/observation and teaching exchanges the staff of our school could improve contacts, the quality of the placements periods and the connection to the theoretical teaching at home.
