Our goal with the project "Sustainable hosting" is to, based on an international focus, provide knowledge that helps participants individually and in interaction with others identify, develop and practice the good hosting. Hosting is about making the guest, the customer or the person you meet feel welcome. A good host contains concepts such as service, hospitality, quality, friendship and hospitality and is sustainable, ie extends over time and includes environmental thinking where this is relevant. The hospitality industry that we educate within is a broad sector where many of our students will go out to work. To succeed as an individual but also as a company or at a higher level, hosting can be a crucial skill. According to the industry, it can often be more important than professional knowledge. We want to strengthen the participants' intercultural competence and knowledge to be able to work with guests from abroad or work abroad. Strengthen the participant's professional knowledge and language to become more competitive in the labor market. As a school, educate based on the needs of the industry and shape the right profiles with high competence in hosting so that the students who leave us are strong in the labor market.
Nyköping Strand Educationcentre has since the school started in 1994, had an international focus and always participated in international projects, study trips, conferences and internships abroad. The school's international projects have given many students the chance to grow both on a personal level and professionally. For many employees, it has also meant opportunities to visit various conferences, make study visits and develop skills through job shadowing and above all visit students and follow up their progression on internships abroad. The project strengthens our students and employees to be well prepared in their professions both professionally with skills and qualities, but also internationally, current culture, hospitality and sustainability to be able to work worldwide and contribute to global sustainability. The school works continuously with issues of environment, economy, social, democracy and creates a personal sustainability for a good and healthy life. The project contributes to added value for the organisation and provides students who may not have the conditions or finances to complete trips abroad or have the opportunity to develop the learning and understanding of another culture on site in another country.
