As written in the previous section: We wanted to increase the number of teachers and principals who carried out job shadowing to gain increased intercultural understanding, skills development and inspiration to increase the quality of our vocational programs, which would benefit students and also increase interest in the programs. We also knew that job shadowing provides language training, as well as an interest in continued international collaboration, which would be positive for the students as well. The job shadowing would also provide an opportunity to develop the collaboration around students' vocational training abroad.
For many years, Eskilstuna's municipal upper secondary schools have been involved in vocational training and, to some extent, job shadowing abroad. The interest in job shadowing has increased every year, especially after we received our VET Charter in 2018, where the Childcare and Education department is the coordinator and the VET schools are members. We therefore decided to make a budget application for job shadowing, as we already had a large project for 2018–2020 that mainly involved students and their internships abroad. We wanted to increase the number of teachers and principals who carried out job shadowing to gain increased intercultural understanding, skills development and inspiration to increase the quality of vocational programs, which would benefit students and also increase interest in the programs. We also knew that job shadowing provides language training and an interest in continued international collaboration and development of internships abroad which would be positive for the students as well. The budget application included the program Trade / Administration from Rekarnegymnasiet, and the programs Childcare / Leisure and Culinary from Rinmangymnasiet. In total, we applied for 20 job shadowing mobilities.
