Objectives

We wanted to achieve the following goals: 1. to improve the digital competence of teachers (regular use of ICT in the classroom) 2. to improve the didactic competencies of teachers and increase the quality of teaching through the use of modern technologies and new teaching methods 3. to improve the language competences of foreign language teachers (English) 4. to establish formal and informal contacts for international cooperation with other schools, which enables international exchanges and participation in KA2 school partnerships 5. to strengthen the social and intercultural competencies of teachers and students 6. to raise awareness among students in the fight against racism, discrimination and non-acceptance of immigrants 7. to integrate teachers and students into the European context 8.to further motivate teachers for professional development, lifelong learning, raising the level of teaching and introducing the latest methods in their professional fields for the benefit of students, as this will make their lessons more interesting and effective

Background

Applying for the project was a result of the needs of teachers at our school to be able to develop personally and professionally and to acquire new competencies, skills and knowledge that could be used in the classroom. With the project, we followed new trends in the field of education, which require improving or upgrading ICT competencies that are necessary for every teacher to master. The second reason was to improve the academic, professional and conversational level of English of teachers and consequently also their students. Good knowledge of a foreign language makes it easier to obtain a variety of information from the web and raise the level of general knowledge. Fluent use of English as a world language of communication enables better participation of students and teachers in international Erasmus + projects. The third reason was the strengthening of social and cultural competences, the development of tolerance, respect and acceptance of cultural diversity in Europe. The influx of students from other countries is constantly increasing at our school, so it is necessary to teach our students tolerance and acceptance of cultural differences. Foreign students often barely understand Slovene, so they use English to communicate. Better knowledge of English facilitates the use of the Internet, which results in more extensive knowledge of students and a reduction in negative stereotypes and prejudices.
