By applying to the Erasmus + program, the school wants to: 1. improve staff competencies by: - insight into new teaching methods, contents and tools and transfer of good practices to school and exchange of experiences with European colleagues - sharing experiences and introducing good practices of participants in structured courses with colleagues at school and with colleagues from other schools in the region - improving knowledge of foreign languages - empowerment in international integration - empowerment to address Europe's migration challenges and intercultural dialogue 2. Introduce the development of sustainable cross-border cooperation 3. Introduce new methods, contents and approaches to work also for marginalized groups present at school (Roma) and for children with special needs 4. delve into the challenges of migration, marginalized ethnic groups and intercultural dialogue. We will test new methods and approaches in practice, recognizing that approaches operating abroad may not be appropriate for our environment. Therefore, we will closely monitor the impact of the introduced changes and discuss them at pedagogical conferences and respond accordingly in case the desired effects are not achieved.
Rudolf Ukovič Primary School in Podgrad is a small rural school on the border with Croatia and thus faces new challenges of a multicultural society (Roma, migrants,) Due to the margins and remoteness of the school's location, we would also like to bring students closer to new methods of work and to the EU's intercultural awareness, in order to overcome new challenges and take advantage of life in the EU. If we want to achieve what is described, it is necessary to empower teachers. In recent years, we have noticed at school: - there are children of other nationalities in kindergarten and classes, - today's children have different needs than children did a decade or more ago, - we have a certain number of children with special needs - there is a negative or indifferent attitude towards the European Union in the place where the school is located, as people perceive most of the challenges but not the opportunities offered by the EU, - the use of new methods and approaches in teaching is becoming a necessity and no longer an option, - The place encounters migrants and other marginalized groups (Roma), which gives rise to different emotions and consequently mostly negative attitudes, which are transmitted from adults to children.
