At the Jurij Vega Grammar School Idrija there are many teachers with many years of teaching practice. Teaching methods such as frontal teaching and individual work are needed in the classroom, but we are aware of the need to modernize teaching and develop flexible forms of learning, especially those that enable students to develop key competencies for adulthood and which create the basis for life-long learning and working life. In order to provide students with a suitable environment for acquiring knowledge and developing independence, innovation, creativity and skills, teachers constantly participate in various professional trainings on new pedagogical approaches in Slovenia. Recognizing that certain countries have more experience with introducing new approaches and different organization of lessons, and that first-hand experience is crucial, we decided on the possibility of training in European countries where they have more developed school systems. So far we have learned many new methods and tools that we already use successfully, but at the same time we were aware that we need additional training or. exchanging experiences in the wider context of EU so that they and others can be competently introduced into their work.
