With international mobility and direct experience that the teacher would gain by participating in a structured course and with emphasis on innovative work abroad, we expected that, in addition to professional development and a positive attitude towards their own work, a stimulating learning environment would be developed, motivation for learning, awareness of internationalization and improvement of communication skills (using professional terminology in a foreign language). With the help of creative approaches also learning about innovative approaches to teaching. Among the basic goals and reasons for the preparation of the international project was the desire to enable the acquisition of new professional knowledge and experience in another country and its transfer to the Slovenian educational space. Through this we wanted to provide knowledge and experience that would, through qualified teachers, also help students develop appropriate competencies for all areas of work in their future (whether in preschool, theater, film, dance or beyond). With the project we also wanted to gain new knowledge and experience and partners for future KA1 and KA2 projects and through the example of good practice to encourage mobility among teachers.
One of the key needs for the involvement of our school in European projects is the openness of curricula, which has been reflected mainly in general education (eg ITS in gymnasiums, active citizenship) and specialised gymnasiums (they have, compared to VET schools and general gymnasiums, more workshops and elective classes) in recent years. Through involvement in international projects, through the promotion of innovation in teachers, we want to enable contact with international environment, learn about different methods and tools for classroom work and enable the dimension of internationalization by learning about different European cultures. With the projects, we are looking for additional opportunities for education and training, as well as professional and personal growth of teachers and, indirectly, students. Through examples of good practice we want to increase the number of teachers participating in international projects and structured courses abroad in the future and establish permanent connections with foreign related institutions, where teachers would be professionally trained or could even taught for a short period of time. New methods and good practices would be then introduced into the Slovenian school.
