Objectives

With the implementation of the project, we wanted to enable our students to: - get acquainted with different methods of work with preschool children and approaches to teaching verbal and non-verbal communication in the preschool period, which are diverse and adapted to children’s language abilities. We anticipated that by the end of the project, 80 % of students will be acquainted with various methods of encouraging communication in a certain age group and will be able to create their own records, counting games, word games, etc. and be able to support children in developing their communication skills; - at the end of the project, at least 50 % of students will be able to implement their ideas in authentic situations in kindergartens during their teaching practice; - at least 20 % of students will implement the acquired knowledge of a foreign language in the routine activities of the kindergarten; - accompanying teachers will get familiar with examples of good practice and implement them into annual work plans for professional modules, which will be reflected in planning of objectives and contents of the open curriculum (new professional module Early Foreign Language Learning and Sign Communication for Children).

Background

In the pre-school education program, we have set the goal to pay more attention to the importance of practical knowledge and skills needed by pre-school educators, which enables us to participate in Erasmus+ projects. Above all, we listened to the wishes of students to gain even more practical experience and practical content in professional modules. Among the priority tasks of the project, we aimed to empower students and teachers for intercultural competence. We wanted to emphasize the importance of non-formal education and strengthen language competences in the field of foreign language use, thus making it easier for students to enter the European labour market. We additionally wanted to improve the quality and recognition of the school in terms of a stimulating learning environment. By participating in the project, we also wanted to strengthen the competence of leading and using foreign language in teachers. Above all, with the help of Erasmus+ projects, we want to integrate new knowledge and good practices into the teachers’ annual work plan, into the classroom, into the work practice of students in kindergartens and finally, into the future working places of our students.
