Objectives

With the project implementation we wanted to achieve the following goals: -improve the quality of education and encourage the transfer of good practice from foreign professional areas; -improve the professional competencies for the students of the gastronomy and hospitality program and computer sciences program; -identify the drawbacks in the professional field of the local market (also due to the language) and be aware of the improvements that will be in the future workplace; -raise the linguistic and cultural competencies of students, enrich the terminology of the language in separate areas that is limited in our geographical area at the time of education; -encourage teamwork, strengthen personal development, attitude towards work, self-confidence and self-esteem; -acquire professional competencies of the staff: the accompanying teacher would get an insight in the implementation of work, tasks, procedures and organisation of work with Italian employers; -establish cooperation between the school and companies abroad and thus strengthen mutual relations that help with the school recognition.

Background

We applied for the project in order to enable students to do internships abroad, where they would directly develop communication and cultural competencies with clients and mentors and thus improve their knowledge of Italian, which is predominantly the mother tongue for our students. Students would definitely benefit from this work experience abroad and it would be valuable contribution that would help them integrate into companies in the local environment. Considering the presence of the Italian minority and geographical locations along the Italian border our students have the opportunity to take part in both markets, Slovenian and Italian as throughout their studies they get to know the Slovenian as well as the Italian language, culture, geography and all the other characteristics present in our professional programs. Moreover, besides from better training, exchanging of good practice and dealing with responsibility, the mobility also facilitates the transfer from education to employment.
